The workshop

Where Your Furniture Actually Gets Made

Plenty of furniture companies in KL are sales offices with a subcontractor list. We are the opposite: a factory in Taman Midah, Cheras, with a small sales desk at the front. What we quote, we build ourselves.

Since 2014

Twelve Years, One Address

Oakio Woodworks started as a two-man cabinet shop serving renovation contractors. The contractors kept asking for tighter tolerances than their usual suppliers could hold, and homeowners started calling us directly. Today fourteen of us work out of a 12,000 sq ft unit — joiners, a CNC operator, two finishers and our own installation crew.

Staying in one place matters in this trade. Our timber acclimatises in the same humidity it will live in after installation, and clients can walk in on a Saturday to see their piece half-built. Nothing hides behind a showroom wall.

Machines + hands

CNC Where It Counts, Hand Tools Where It Shows

Carcasses and repeat panels come off the CNC router and edge-bander — that is how holes line up and doors sit flush. Anything you will touch or see up close is finished by hand: solid-wood frames, live edges, spray-lacquered fronts sanded between coats.

We keep the tolerances honest with a simple rule: if a drawer needs slamming or a gap needs silicone, it does not leave the factory.

Materials

Boards That Survive Malaysian Air

Kuala Lumpur sits at 80% humidity most of the year, and cheap chipboard swells here within two rainy seasons. Our carcasses are moisture-resistant plywood or E1 melamine board; wet areas get marine-grade ply. Feature faces are solid oak, walnut, teak or nyatoh, sealed on all six sides before assembly.

Every quote names the exact board brand, hardware series and finish system. Bring a competitor's quote and we will happily translate the vague lines for you.
